Letter to Channel Five
I have just sent the following complaint to Channel Five TV.......
Dear Sir,
I would be grateful if you would regard this as a complaint and forward it to the correct department.
I have just witnessed, on Channel Five television, a sickening advertisement from a religious organisation called the Mormons. I was deeply offended by the content, presentation and claims made by this group. Individuals influenced by these people often suffer mental trauma and psychological damage, sometimes acting upon some of the silliest superstitious and supernatural beliefs. In the proper place, with alternative viewpoints and the presentation of evidence allowed such broadcasting would have been acceptable.
I repeat, I was offended.
(Name and address given)
So precisely what was it that offended you about this ad?
ReplyDeleteConsidering that you aren't making that entirely clear, your letter won't be taken seriously, as it shouldn't be.
You are probably right but I have only seen it the once. If I see it again I'll try to recollect some of the exact wording.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course my complaint should not be taken seriously. I am an atheist - one of the 15% of the population who's opinion does not count because we do not recognise the Lord Jesus.
No, your complaint shouldn't be taken seriously because you don't explain what you're actually objecting to.
ReplyDeleteIs it the ad itself? Or the content of the ad?
No one who reads your letter will have a clue. All they can do is label it a crank letter and throw it out. You've left no other option.
Look here, Patrick
ReplyDeleteIf I could write with clarity all the time I would be making a load of cash writing novels instead of wasting everyones time with this pathetic, reactionary little blog.
We do not get religious ads over here in the UK so it was a bit of a shock to see one. They were flogging some book on spiritual/goddy stuff, claiming they could improve lives with a their religious clap trap.
Yuk.
I shall pay more attention next time.
